Cobblers start Bunn talks
20 May 2008 - 17:28:50
Northampton Town boss Stuart Gray hopes to persuade Mark Bunn to remain with the Cobblers after opening talks with the goalkeeper about a contract extension.
The 23-year-old has made more than 100 appearances for the League One side since coming through the youth team ranks at the Sixfields Stadium and still has 12 months left on his current deal.
Gray told Town's official website: "Mark's a very good keeper and he's a player we want to keep at the club.
"There've been various newspaper reports out there about Mark recently and people will speculate about our players, but if they are that means we're doing well and that's the price you have to pay.
"We're keen to try and sort Mark's contract out and the chairman and I have met with his agent and we'll have to see what happens.
"We want to fulfil our ambitions and we see Mark as a very important player to help us do that."
