Cobblers lose injured Doig

15 Nov 2007 - 13:03:28

Northampton Town have been rocked by the news that captain Chris Doig will be out of action for up to four months.

The Cobblers defender picked up a knee injury in last weekend's FA Cup first round draw with Darlington and scans have revealed ligament damage.

"Chris Doig is going to need surgery and that will rule him out long-term," boss Stuart Gray told the club's official website.

"We thought initially it was just a hamstring injury and he'd only be out for a month, but he has had a scan and he has actually torn the ligament and will miss a minimum of three to four months."

Meanwhile, Town have received further bad news after hearing a deal to sign trialist defender Marcin Adamski had fallen through.

"We also thought we'd agreed a deal with Marcin Adamski, who's been on trial with us, but unfortunately the agent kept moving the goalposts at the last minute and that deal has fallen through," added Gray.
