Cobblers keen on Johnson

Northampton Town have signed Brett Johnson on a new contract which will run until the end of the current season.

The 22-year-old defender's previous deal ran out at the end of last month, but the League One club have tied the player down to a short-term deal as the Cobblers challenge for the play-offs.

Johnson had only made a handful of appearances for the Cobblers before this season, but the defender has made 15 appearances in this campaign helping Northampton to a comfortable mid-table position.

Johnson signed professional terms in June 2005 after joining the Cobblers from Aldershot.

Before this season, Johnson had previously spent time on loan at Ebbsfleet and Grays Athletic.

The Cobblers currently sit in 11th place and are six points off a League One play-off spot.
