Cobblers deny punch-up

Northampton Town manager Stuart Gray has rubbished claims that midfielder Ryan Gilligan punched a member of the club's coaching staff.

It was alleged that the 22-year-old had a bust-up with Jim Barron after being substituted in Friday's loss to Hartlepool.

"Ryan just kicked a bottle in his frustration, and the fourth official got involved," Gray told BBC Radio Northampton.

"It was just an argument, that's all. No punches were thrown and it's sorted now."
