    Cobblers capture Robertson

    26 Jan 2007 - 15:15:40

Northampton Town manager Stuart Gray has rounded off a busy week by signing Sheffield United's teenage striker Jordan Robertson on loan until the end of the season.

The Cobblers boss had already snapped up Manchester City midfielder Marc Laird and allowed Scott McGleish to move to Wycombe Wanderers.

Robertson has not yet made a first-team appearance for the Blades, but did score four goals in 11 appearances for Torquay United during a loan spell at Plainmoor earlier this season.

"He's a young striker who we've watched regularly and he's impressed us," Gray told Town's official website.

"But in no way is Jordan a replacement for Scott McGleish.

"Work is in progress to bring an experienced striker to the club but, having been here a few weeks and having had the chance to assess the squad in matches and training, I've seen we have a lot quality in the squad, but there are also areas that we need to strengthen."
