Cobblers bring in Beckwith

Former Hereford United defender Dean Beckwith has agreed a one-year deal with League Two rivals Northampton Town.

The 25-year-old, who also has the option for a further 12 months with Town, teams up with former Bulls team-mate Steve Guinan at Sixfields.

Cobblers boss Stuart Gray said of his latest acquisition: "I'm delighted to have secured Dean. He's a good age, has a good amount of games under his belt and is a player who's impressed me.

"A year ago he was being linked with a move to the Championship, and I think the move here will give him a fresh start and hopefully help him kick on.

"He's another one who's won promotion from this level before so he knows what it takes. He's also a player with a decent fitness record and is hungry to take both his career and the club forward."

Meanwhile, the club have now withdrawn their contract offer to Mark Hughes.
