Cobblers bolster strikeforce

Colchester United striker Scott Vernon has joined Northampton Town on a month's loan.

Cobblers boss Stuart Gray is looking forward to working with the 25-year-old former Oldham Athletic and Blackpool forward.

"Scott's a striker with a decent goalscoring record," he said. "He's a hard-working striker and the sort of player who can come in and make an impact.

"He's been playing regularly at this level this season and has a fair amount of experience despite only being 25 so hopefully he'll hit the ground running for us.

"He has a first-class attitude and I know he'll come here determined to do well for us."
