Buckle upbeat despite Torquay setback

New Bristol Rovers manager Paul Buckle saw plenty of positives from his side's first home game of the season Buckle, who left Torquay to take over at the Memorial Ground in the summer, saw his former club take the spoils on Saturday but is confident that his rebuilding job is on track as he prepares for the visit of Northampton on Tuesday night. "Having made 15 new signings during the summer, we are not going to get success overnight," he said. "Football isn't like that and we have a lot of work to do on the training ground. "But I couldn't be happier with the spirit at the club. The fans created an unbelievable atmosphere and although they have gone home disappointed, they saw their team give 100%. My teams never give up. We have to improve defensively but we will always go forward and try to score goals." For the Cobblers the game comes on the back of an excellent away win at Aldershot and manager Gary Johnson has been full of praise for goalscorer Ashley Westwood, currently at the club on non-contract terms. “I don’t know what’s happened with him at this club before, I can only go on the attitude he showed me in the two weeks we had him here,” he said. “I was surprised with how fit he is. He’s had two unbelievable games, played 90 minutes in both, and he’s got through them with no problems."
