Break will do us good - Sampson

Northampton boss Ian Sampson believes the lack of a midweek fixture will be vital in helping Town get their league campaign back on track. The Cobblers were beaten 2-0 at Macclesfield on Saturday in one of their poorest displays of the season so far.Their form in League Two has been in stark contrast to that they have produced in the Carling Cup, where they have won at Reading and Liverpool. In fact, Northampton have won more games in that competition than they have in the league - three wins to two.Sampson, whose side have played 14 games in all competitions so far this season, told the Northampton Chronicle: "We've got a week's rest now and we've got time to recover and work on certain things."I know they can play, I'm just hoping Saturday was a one-off. I think not having a game in midweek will be important to us. If it is tiredness then we've got time to recover now."It's not been a great league start. We've been fantastic in the cups but like everyone says, it's all about your bread and butter and that`s the league and it needs to be better. I can't understand why the players can't play like they do in the cups when it comes to the league games."
