We now have solid foundations

Ben Harding happy with new arrivals

The awful weather in the east of England made yesterday's postponement at Dagenham and Redbridge a formality, but Ben Harding is focused on the remainder of the seasonn and the challenges facing the Cobblers.

The Cobblers have won just once in their last 18 games and one of the main reasons for that poor record has been the team's inability to hold on to leads, throwing games away late in the day.

Harding believes they are more than capable of improving on that poor record thanks to the steadying influence of players such as Clarke Carlisle and Luke Guttridge, who were recently brought in by Boothroyd.

“With the additions the gaffer’s brought in, we’ve got solid foundations there,” said Harding.

“If the spine of the team can be strong, everyone else can build around that. And I think that’s what we’ve got.

“There’s 18 games to go and there’s still a lot of football to be played, a lot of minutes and the club can really get out of the position we’re in.

Harding recently signed a permanent deal with Northampton after joining the club on loan from Wycombe Wanderers.
