Two Ambitious Managers At The Foot Of League Two

David Flitcroft takes charge of Bury for the first time as they host Northampton on Saturday

It is a quick return to the hotseat for the former Shakers player after he was sacked by Barnsley recently just months after keeping the Tykes in the Championship in his first managerial role.“I had a few offers in coaching but this is an opportunity to define what I am as a manager,” said Flitcroft ahead of the visit to the newly-named JD Stadium.“Within 20 minutes of speaking to the chairman I knew I wanted to work with the man and be part of his vision. I wouldn't have joined Bury if I didn't think it was going in the right direction.”Flitcroft will face a manager in Aidy Boothroyd who retains his own ambitions about what he wants to achieve in football but who knows the reality of the current campaign is a fight to stay out of the relegation zone and avoid the drop out of the Football League.
