Thornton happy with Cobblers goal

Northampton Town midfielder Kevin Thornton was delighted at scoring a crucial goal for the Cobblers in his first start in seven matches.The 24-year-old Irishman netted after just five minutes of Saturday's 2-0 victory over Stockport in League Two. [LNB]"As a player it's not nice to be on the bench but I had my chance here and I think I did myself justice," he told BBC Radio Northampton. [LNB]"I'm glad to be back in the team and to get a goal." [LNB]He added: "The most important thing was for us to get a win and move up the table. [LNB]"At the end of the day the gaffer [manager Ian Sampson] picks the team and it's up to him. [LNB]"I can't really go and complain if I'm not in it. I just have to do my stuff on the training ground, and when I get a chance grab it with both hands. [LNB]"December is a big month and we need everyone to keep focused." [LNB]Northampton's victory at Sixfields pushed them up to 18th place in the League Two table, five points clear of the relegation zone.
