Paul Sturrock's team are in upbeat mood ahead of Saturday's game against Northampton The Shrimpers are in the thick of the play-off battle after a run of just one defeat in nine games and that form has made Sturrock wary of making new signings. He told www.echo-news.co.uk: "Ideally it would be great if we could bring in a couple of loan players. We're down to the bare bones and don't have many other people to call on but I don't want to disrupt the team so it's a difficult call to make. "We will have to see how the squad are feeling this week before making any decisions." Sturrock ran the rule over two trialist strikers, Sam Higgins and Lee Boylan, in Wednesday's reserve team friendly against Ipswich Town.
