Sixfields form keeps Northampton up

A solid home record saved the Cobblers from relegation out of the Football League After the relief of Saturday's win against Stevenage ensured the battle to stay up would not go to the final weekend of the season, the analysis can begin of what has been, the historic win at Anfield aside, a dreadful campaign. Northampton's home record after their final Sixfields match reads 8 wins, 9 draws and just 6 defeats for a total haul of 33 points, comparing very favourably with the four teams below them in the table at present. Indeed the Cobblers haul of 40 goals in front of their own fans is better than any side in the bottom half of League Two. And with only 2 wins on their travels those home displays are the main reason why it is League Two and not Blue Square Premier football on offer next year.
