Shrews v Cobblers: Top Scorers v Meanest Defence!

25 February 2015 08:28
The Cobblers face high-flying Shrewsbury this weekend

Micky Mellon's side currently lie 2nd in the table, six points clear of the play-off pack, despite Saturday's defeat away to struggling Tranmere Rovers.

Their promotion push has been built on a strong defence with the total of 22 goals conceded being the lowest in League Two. Mellon was disappointed with the manner of the goals conceded at Tranmere, saying: 'That was not like us.'

Northampton's three unanswered strikes against York pushed the Cobblers past the half-century of goals for the season, their 51 scored being 5 more than any other side ahead of the midweek action.

Chris Wilder's aim for attacking, entertaining football has certainly been met and an intriguing game awaits this weekend.
