Sampson to stick with XI

Northampton boss Ian Sampson is keen to name an unchanged side yet again at Macclesfield on Saturday. Sampson saw his side tire in the closing stages of the 2-1 home defeat to Chesterfield on Tuesday night after a punishing week which saw three games and the penalty shoot-out win at Liverpool. But the manager is still hopeful of naming an unchanged XI after calling his side's display in the Spireites defeat "excellent". He said: "Apart from Tadhg Purcell we haven't got any other injuries and ideally I'd like to pick the same side that played on Tuesday. "The players haven't been doing a lot in training because with the games we've had in the last two weeks it's mainly about their recovery." Defenders Dean Beckwith (thigh) and Craig Hinton (knee) could both return to training next week while Marcus Hall was back in the squad in midweek after recovering from a knee injury. Purcell will miss the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury in August.
