Sampson: Loan deals cost Cobblers
Sampson saw two permanent signings - Peter Gilbert and Pat Kanyuka - make their league debuts for the club during the goalless draw with Grimsby on Saturday and is keen to avoid overloading the squad with too many temporary additions.[LNB]He said: "It's a slow process at the moment but we're trying to build and get new players in. Getting an influence on the team is difficult because I can only bring in out-of-contract players.[LNB]"I could go into the loan market but I don't want to go down that road because I think we've suffered in the past from having too many loan players.[LNB]"We had 19 last year and that was not helpful. If I sign a loan player they've got to come in to play, not just be here to beef the squad up."[LNB][LNB]
