Sampson hoping for extra funds

Northampton manager Ian Sampson is hopeful of a cash boost from chairman David Cardoza as he looks to add to his squad. The Cobblers have failed to find the net in both League Two games to date and Sampson is keen to add another striker to his ranks. He said: "I'd like two more players but it's easier said than done. "I'd rather we got two in and didn't let any go because that would bolster the squad considerably. It would be a possibility to do that, but it's something I would have to discuss with the chairman and try to get him to release a bit more money. "At the moment we're working to a tight budget and we want to try to keep to that if we can. "I'm always talking to the chairman and we're trying to do one or two things but it's not as easy as saying 'we want that player, we're going to get him."'
