Sampson enjoys fine week

Northampton manager Ian Sampson admits he is revelling in a relaxed atmosphere at Sixfields after a fine week for the Cobblers. Sampson had seen his side lose six games in a row in all competitions but successive wins over Gillingham, Lincoln and then Forest Green in the FA Cup has lightened the mood ahead of a tough clash with Port Vale. Sampson said: "The Carling Cup wasn't a distraction for us and I'm glad we're still in the FA Cup. "It has been a good week or so for us. "You take the pressure and the flak when you are not winning games so it's nice to get the praise when you do, but Port Vale will be another big test for us on Saturday. "The league is our priority. They have had a terrific start to the season and I'm sure they will prove a tough nut to crack."
