Northampton manager Ian Sampson has not shut the door on Craig Hinton's future at the club.
The 33-year-old defender has not been part of Sampson's plans this season, making just one appearance, and has joined Blue Square Bet Premier side Luton on a month's loan.
"I've got nothing but praise for Craig," Sampson said.
"He has only gone for a month and if things don't work out for him at Luton he has still got a part to play for us here."
Meanwhile, Sampson is keen to make additions to his squad when the transfer window reopens in January.
"We are still looking to strengthen and we have got one or two targets we want to move on in January but only time will tell whether or not those moves come off," he added.
