Professional Cobblers enjoy a smooth start

Aidy Boothroyd has declared himself more than happy with the club's summer transfer dealings

As he aims to improve on what have been a dismal past two seasons at Sixfields there is no doubt that both Boothroyd and chairman David Cardoza have given the Cobblers squad the best possible preparation for the 2012/13 campaign.

The manager's hand has been backed both with the players that he has signed and those still under contract who he wished to leave the club early.

Indeed Boothroyd has said that the five new signings he has made are his 'first choices in every position' and praised Cardoza for making that happen.

'(He) has been straight and he’s backed me all the way with them,' Boothroyd told the Chronicle & Echo from the club's training camp in Croatia.

That 10-day trip, at no little expense for a League Two club, is another sign of the professional preparations that Town are undertaking.
