Platt signing shows Boothroyd lure

Clive Platt will link up with his former manager Aidy Boothroyd at Sixfields next season

The experienced striker made 33 appearances in the Championship in 2011/12 but, despite Coventry City manager Andy Thorn being keen for him to stay at the club, has opted to drop into the basement division and sign a two-year contract with Town.

Having worked with Boothroyd at both Colchester and Coventry it shows that players who have worked with the Northampton boss in the past are keen to do so again.

Clarke Carlisle last season lent his weight to a fight against relegation out of the Football League having played under Boothroyd at Watford while Marlon King's first destination on his release from prison was Coventry City and the Championship due to the loyalty he felt he owed his former Hornets boss.
