NTFC Chairman: Coventry Deal Provides 'Much Needed' Boost

08 July 2013 19:56
David Cardoza has been outlining his reasons for accepting a groundshare with Coventry City

The Sky Blues will be temporary residents at Sixfields for the next three seasons in a move which their fans fear will spell the end for the club.

Cardoza, aware of a furious reaction from Coventry supporters towards the deal, says that for NTFC it was a straightforward decision.

He told the Chronicle & Echo: “Coventry City have come forward, asking to hire our stadium on days when it is not in use, helping Northampton Town’s cash flow in the process and have Football League approval to do so.

“We are a league two club who are battling to break even, so given the facts that are presented the decision has been made in the best interests of Northampton Town Football Club while also attempting to help Coventry City.”
