Northampton defender Ryan Cresswell doubt for Stevenage clash

Northampton defender Ryan Cresswell is a doubt for Saturday's League Two clash with Stevenage.

Cresswell was forced off after 20 minutes of the Cobblers' 3-2 victory over Carlisle in midweek because of a groin problem.

Boss Chris Wilder told the club website: "Ryan is struggling a little bit but I thought Zander (Diamond) was outstanding when he came on. He got up to the pace of the game straight away and if Ryan misses out then Zander will play."

Midfielder Lawson D'Ath serves the second of a three-match suspension following his red card against Cambridge last weekend.

Midfielder Steven Schumacher has completed a one-match ban and will return to the reckoning for Stevenage.

Schumacher missed the midweek draw at Portsmouth but may find new signing Michael Tonge ahead of him in the pecking order after an impressive debut at Fratton Park.

Boss Teddy Sheringham must wait on Chris Whelpdale (groin), while Ronnie Henry (back) and Connor Ogilvie (hamstring) have also been struggling.

Adam Marriott, David McAllister, Charlie Lee (knees) and Rohdell Gordon (hamstring) have all resumed light training but are still regaining fitness.
