Demontagnac banned for Cobblers

Ishmel Demontagnac will miss Northampton's home clash against Scunthorpe through suspension but Roy O'Donovan returns from a ban of his own.

Winger Demontagnac became the fourth Cobblers player to see red in the club's first seven games of the new season when he was given his marching orders during Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat at MK Dons. He now starts a three-match suspension.

Striker O'Donovan, meanwhile, returns from a one-game ban having sat out at stadiummk following his late dimissal at Bristol Rovers last weekend.

Boss Aidy Boothroyd is also hopeful of left-back Joe Widdowson (hamstring) and midfielder Ian Morris (groin) returning to the fold.

Scunthorpe striker Chris Iwelumo could return to the starting line-up following injury.

The much-travelled 35-year-old, who has missed the last two matches due to a knee injury, is hoping to start alongside Sam Winnall, but another veteran, Deon Burton, and on-loan Jimmy Spencer are also in contention.

Skipper Michael Collins remains doubtful as he has been struggling with a knee injury, but manager Brian Laws has no other new injury or suspension worries following the midweek penalty shoot-out defeat to Sheffield United in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Summer signing Etienne Esajas made his first start for the club in midweek and could retain his place as Scunthorpe chase their first win since the opening day.
