Northampton waiting on Zander Diamond fitness

Northampton defender Zander Diamond came off injured at the weekend but it is hoped he will be fit to face Port Vale on Tuesday night.

Diamond has been assessed after being withdrawn after 77 minutes of the 1-0 win at AFC Wimbledon after complaining of fatigue and tight muscles.

Midfielder John-Joe O'Toole is another player nursing a few aches and strains from that game but Cobblers boss Justin Edinburgh hopes to have an unchanged squad to choose from.

Striker Alex Revell (calf) could be back for the Bolton game on Saturday but defender Gaby Zakuani (hamstring) is likely to miss the remainder of the season.

Vale midfielder Sam Foley is nursing a knock from the weekend and will be assessed.

Caretaker boss Michael Brown hopes to have some players returning from injury and winger Jerome Thomas and midfielder Danny Pugh will also be checked on after sitting out the 3-2 win over relegation rivals Swindon.

Sebastien Amoros has missed the last two matches and also has a chance of coming back into contention.

Anthony de Freitas, Rigino Cicilia, Tyler Walker, Remie Streete and Chris Mbamba have been absent a little longer but Brown hopes they are all on their way back to aide Vale's survival battle.
