Northampton edge out Crawley
Sky Bet League Two champions Northampton beat 10-man Crawley Town 2-1 to make it 21 games unbeaten.
A Ricky Holmes penalty and a John-Joe O'Toole goal put Northampton in charge before Gwion Edwards netted a late consolation for Crawley.
John Marquis fired wide for the champions and Jimmy Smith was off target at the other end as the early exchanges were even.
O'Toole tested Jack Rose from the edge of the box before Sam Hoskins had an effort blocked and Marquis fired another shot wide of the mark.
Edwards went close for Crawley before Holmes and Marquis had efforts blocked for the Cobblers and O'Toole went close with a header.
Northampton continued to dominate the first half, Hoskins firing over and then had another effort superbly saved by Rose just before the break.
Edwards was denied by Adam Smith after the restart but it was Northampton who broke the deadlock three minutes into the second half.
Marquis was fouled by Lanre Oyebanjo and Holmes converted the ensuing spot-kick.
Danny Rose went close to doubling Northampton's lead and Rod McDonald went even closer when he hit the bar from a tight angle. In between Shamir Fenelon's low drive was saved by Smith.
Holmes hit the bar with a free-kick late on before Northampton increased their lead in the 80th minute when McDonald's effort was blocked and O'Toole fired home from close range.
Crawley reduced the arrears four minutes later when Ewards found the bottom corner of the net from a free-kick but any hopes of getting a point ended when Andy Bond got a straight red card in the 86th minute.
