Northampton 0-0 Barnet: Match Report

05 February 2011 18:04
Cobblers and Bees in stalemate Barnet picked up a useful point in their bid to climb away from the relegation zone after frustrating Northampton in their goalless draw at Sixfields. There was to be no repeat of the midweek goal feast enjoyed by Cobblers as they failed to break down a regular Barnet side who had the best of the first half. The visitors created several openings with their pace up front but they came closer to breaking their deadlock from a set piece in the 26th minute. Mark Marshall's in-swinging corner was met by Clovis Kamdjo whose first header was blocked from the line and his second came back off the bar. Northampton's best chance fell to Shaun Harrad on the half hour mark but Jake Cole was quickly helped to save off his feet. Northampton upped the tempo in the second half and within three minutes of the restart Billy McKay should have broke the deadlock when his close-range effort smacked against the underside of the bar from a Michael Jacobs cross. Jacobs then had a goal bound shot blocked while Cole produced a fingertip save to keep out a 69th minute header from substitute Ryan Gilligan. But that was the closest Northampton came to making the breakthrough.
