Burton boss wants to keep up the good work

Burton Albion travel to Sixfields on Boxing Day for a League Two clash with Northampton with the Brewers looking to build on a solid first-half of the season over the busy festive period.

With a play-off place currently in his side's grasp manager Paul Peschisolido is considering calling in his players for a Christmas Day workout.

“It’s one of the downsides of being a footballer that the biggest family time of the year is one of the busiest as far as the number of games is concerned," he told the Burton Mail.“I’ve given the lads some extra time off but I also want to keep our pre-match routines as normal as possible.“I’ll see how much (work) we get through in the next couple of days and then decide whether I think we ought to have another session on Christmas Day.”

The Cobblers meanwhile have snapped up goalkeeper Shane Higgs who was a free agent after leaving Leeds United in the summer with the 34-year-old becoming Aidy Boothroyd's first signing.
