Brian Laws returned to the club earlier this year after six years away but was unable to prevent their slide back into the basement division.
He has been busy in the transfer market this summer with former Scotland international striker Chris Iwelumo among his signings.
"I played my best stuff under the gaffer [Brian Laws] at Burnley so it was an easy decision to come here," he told BBC Radio Humberside.
