Paul Cox's side were deserved winners of the Conference in a season which also saw them run Liverpool close in the FA Cup.
Cox, a former Kettering stalwart as a player, has already strengthened his squad with the signing of defender Paul Black, after his release by Tranmere Rovers, and midfielder Keiran Murtagh. They have also tied up a number of their title-winning side on new contracts.
Northampton and Newport have met on 65 previous occasions with the Cobblers winning 21 and drawing 10 of those games.
