Having seen a two-goal lead slip at Cheltenham on Saturday, Northampton put their fans through the wringer at home to Bristol Rovers as the visitors pulled back two goals from a 3-0 scoreline.
"Confidence is a very fragile thing but in the end we did enough to see the game out," Boothroyd told the official club website while praising two-goal striker Bayo Akinfenwa.
It's back to Sixfields on Saturday as Aldershot are the visitors.
