McKenzie thankful for Cobblers chance
Leon McKenzie admits he is looking to rebuild his career after joining Northampton until the end of the season.
The 32-year-old striker was released by Charlton in May and after a summer without a club is desperate to find his feet again.
He said: "I was training with a Superleague team in Greece which didn't work out but it is hard out there at the moment.
"There are several hundred players who were released in the summer and are still out of work. It is the first time there has been a proper recession in football during my career and it's been very tough.
"It was at the back of my mind that it might be time to stop playing and do something else so I am really happy to get this opportunity.
"I've had a bad few years and I want to enjoy my football again and score some goals for this club. I haven't scored 100 career goals for nothing and once I`m match fit I`m confident in my ability."
