Johnson: We won't be in this situation again

Manager Gary Johnson has promised Northampton fans the club will not be in a relegation battle again next season. Saturday's 2-0 win over Stevenage, Johnson's first victory since arriving at Sixfields in March, secured the Cobblers' Football League status for another year but the former Bristol City and Peterborough boss insists his team will be much better equipped during his first full season in charge. "We can't have people singing about staying up, we've got to have our supporters singing about going up, " he told the Northampton Chronicle. "I can promise the fans we won't be in this situation again. We know the players we want here and it's not just about the quality, it's the mentality of these players as well. "We've got to get people that are going to die for this club in every single game. There are a few among the current squad who can do that and who can get results under pressure. "The feeling at the moment, though, is one of `thank God for that'."
