Harding leaves it late to deny Cobblers

Ben Harding volleyed a last-gasp equaliser as Aldershot maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign with a 1-1 draw against Northampton. Harding lashed home deep in stoppage time to cancel out Billy McKay's strike and ensure Northampton remain winless this season. The hosts were quickest out of the blocks, and Marvin Morgan went close early on when his long-range drive was deflected over the crossbar. Morgan was even closer after 13 minutes, his fierce shot palmed away by Northampton goalkeeper Chris Dunn. But the Cobblers worked their way into the game and Steve Guinan wasted a great opening, running through on goal only to see Jamie Young smother his effort. The visitors took the lead 10 minutes before the break, the ball falling to McKay in the area and he confidently curled around Young. Aldershot pressed for an equaliser after the interval, but both Morgan and Luke Gutteridge blazed over when well placed. And the hosts were almost caught out again after 73 minutes when Dean Beckwith stabbed wide with the goal at his mercy after a Michael Jacobs free-kick deceived the home defence.
