The 27-year-old has been on trial with the Cobblers of late following his release from Crewe at the end of last season.[LNB]Gray told Cobblers Player: "We've made him an offer and we're waiting for a decision to come back, so fingers crossed that will bolster the defence up a little bit. He's got that experience at the back."[LNB]Elsewhere, QPR winger Romone Rose was a surprise inclusion among Northampton's squad for Saturday's 3-1 pre-season defeat at MK Dons, coming on just after the half-hour mark.[LNB]And Gray added: "It was a last minute thing, we had the game watched at Kettering and he came on and we've asked Jim Magilton.[LNB]"All credit to the boy, he's driven up here, not met anybody and we've ended up throwing him on. It's case of sitting down and talking to Jim Magilton, talking to the boy and obviously the boy's agent as well."[LNB][LNB]
