The Cobblers chief also believes being forced to sell key players did not help his side's cause as they were relegated into League Two. When asked if he could have done anything differently by using the January transfer window, he told the club's official website: "I've been here two-and-a-half years now and I think I've signed two players in my first period in brining in Mark Hughes and obviously Giles Coke. "Unfortunately we are a selling club, we have to sell our better players and we've lost two very good players in Mark Bunn and [Gabor] Gyepes. "This football club needs a development to be able to strengthen the team and, due to the budget, you're looking to bring in loan signings at times that have to come within that budget. "You can make any excuse in the world, we just did not score enough goals and didn't keep enough clean sheets. But the disappointing thing was our home form, we just did not draw enough games when we've played the likes of Walsall and Southend at home."
