Gilbert joins Shrimpers
Southend have confirmed they have signed left-back Peter Gilbert after his departure from Northampton.
Gilbert agreed fresh terms with the Cobblers back in May but missed a deadline to sign the contract and will now sign a two-year contract with the Essex side once the transfer embargo that is currently in place on the football club is lifted.
He has played under new Shrimpers boss Paul Sturrock at Plymouth and Sheffield Wednesday and returns to Roots Hall after being on trial 12 months ago.
