Furious Di Canio demands improvement against Cobblers

Despite staying on course to win the League Two title there was little praise for his players from Paulo Di Canio on Good Friday

Improving Northampton travel to Wiltshire on Easter Monday in a game where the fiery Italian may opt to make changes.

Speaking after the narrow win at Morecambe he said: "I am not happy.

"There were five or six players whose attitude was unacceptable. I can't accept the attitude of five or six players. Some of them are only young and they have a lot to learn, but they need to look at themselves.

"Paul Benson was an absolute warrior and ran his socks off and got his reward with the winning goal. Others did not put enough effort in for me.

"They didn't run for the ball and they were lazy. They think because they play well one week, then they have made it and that is not the mentality I will accept."

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd will be relishing the chance to pit his wits against Di Canio, especially with his side now looking safe following their win over Oxford.
