Caretaker boss Tim Flowers, like David Lee last week, could only stand and watch as the Cobblers plumbed new depths following their 7-2 hammering by Shrewsbury. Bayo Akinfenwa's stoppage time goal proving little more than a consolation.
Only four points now separate Plymouth and Northampton and the priority must be for a new, permanent manager to be installed at Sixfields as soon as possible and begin the process of drastically revamping the current squad the minute the transfer window opens in January.
