Cobblers Take A Step Forward - Now It's Two Away Games

30 September 2013 08:02
Northampton boss Aidy Boothroyd praised his side after the goalless draw against Morecambe on Saturday

"We've lost two strikers through injury this week so we're not getting the breaks at the moment," he said following the injuries suffered by Clive Platt and Jacob Blyth which handed youngster Ivan Toney his full debut."Today was all about keeping a clean sheet. We had our chances in the first half when we were on top but we've ground out a result. Now we've got to try and find a way to win games, but starting with a clean sheet is very important."With no points and no goals from their away games to date, however, Town now face trips to AFC Wimbledon and Oxford in their next two fixtures. Both opponents are currently in the top seven of the League Two table and a stop to their poor form on the road is becoming ever more urgent for the Cobblers.
