Cobblers take a back seat

A number of League Two fixtures take place this midweek With Northampton having already played 34 games, more than the majority of teams around them in the race for a play-off place, they take a breather and wait for the results to come in from elsewhere as the likes of Notts County and Rotherham United look to take advantage of their games in hand. Ian Sampson's men then travel to Port Vale on Saturday, the Potteries side having warmed up with a trip to bottom club Darlington on Tuesday night. The corresponding fixture at Sixfields in December was a tale of two penalties, Adebayo Akinfenwa levelling from the spot after Marc Richards had scored for the visitors.
