The Sky Blues come to Sixfields this week for a pre-season friendly After warm-up games against Long Buckby, Corby and Kettering, Ian Sampson will begin to narrow down his options for the season ahead against the Championship outfit. Coventry have made a low-key start to their pre-season preparations, drawing blanks against non-league sides Nuneaton and Hinckley. "Pre-season is obviously about physical conditioning, but it's also about the mental preparation as well," said boss Aidy Boothroyd afterwards. "Hinckley gave us a good game and in them we were facing a side that for the first half an hour went all out because they are trying to please their manager and it's like their cup final. "I thought we might have scored because we had enough chances to win a couple of games, but that will come with time."
