Cobblers pair make Sampson's day

Northampton manager Ian Sampson was grateful for two moments of quality from his side as the Cobblers made it 10 games without defeat with a 1-0 win at Dagenham & Redbridge. Full-back John Johnson slammed home the winner in the 71st minute with a glorious strike, before Cobblers goalkeeper Chris Dunn made an unbelievable save from Peter Gain just moments afterwards. Sampson said: "We had one or two bits of decent play, but the one real bit of class was John's finish, hitting the top corner with his left foot. "When you come under pressure, you need everyone to do something special and that was something special. "And it was a great save (by Gain), nine times out of 10 that goes in. It was a great strike and he somehow clawed it over the bar."
