Cobblers missing Dunn

Northampton will be without goalkeeper Chris Dunn for the long trip to Torquay. Dunn suffered an ankle injury in pre-season and is at least a week away from a return so Spurs loanee Oscar Jansson will start between the posts. Defender Craig Hinton is also ruled out with a thigh strain as the Cobblers begin life without striker Adebayo Akinfenwa. Akinfenwa was the focal point of the club`s attack for the last two seasons but has left the club so former Darlington man Tadhg Purcell will be handed his debut by manager Ian Sampson. Fellow new signings Marcus Hall, Nathaniel Wedderburn and Alistair Slowe are all available to make their debuts as the Cobblers look for a rare opening-day win. Sampson said: "I haven't got any selection issues, I'm paid to make these decisions and I just hope the players that are left out of the starting XI respond in the right way."
