Cobblers make striker bid

Northampton manager Ian Sampson has described the club's bid for an unnamed striker as "welcome news for everyone." Chairman David Cardoza revealed earlier this week that the Cobblers have lodged a cash bid with a fellow League Two club for a striker - which would be the first incoming transfer to involve a fee at Sixfields in over four years. Sampson said: "We have made a cash bid for a striker but we are still waiting to hear back from the club. "We've been trying to get a forward in for quite some time and to make a cash bid is welcome news for everyone. "We've got one or two other targets lined up but we're not going to move on anyone else at the moment."
