Cobblers look to banish bad memories

Northampton's last visit to Home Park to face Plymouth Argyle ended in a heavy defeat

The struggling Pilgrims received a welcome boost last November when caretaker Cobblers boss Tim Flowers brought a shell-shocked side down to Devon for a League Two fixture.

Gary Johnson's sacking had been followed by a 7-2 home defeat at the hands of Shrewsbury as Town's season looked in danger of falling apart and Flowers pulled no punches afterwards, warning: "Whoever comes in (as manager), the mission is the keep the club in the league. The Blue Square Bet Premier is littered with clubs like us who've gone and haven't come back."

That man of course was Aidy Boothroyd and with the Cobblers enjoying an unbeaten start to the league season supporters will be confident that Saturday's game will produce a different outcome.

"We had a lot of new faces that day and it kind of kick-started the season for us," said Argyle boss Carl Fletcher.
