Cobblers boss signs up defender
Gilbert is able to join the club outside of the transfer window as he was a free agent after leaving Oldham earlier this season. He turned down the offer of a contract at Boundary Park before the transfer window closed in August.[LNB]Sampson said: "I am sure Peter will do a good job for us.[LNB]"We have had a good look at him over the last couple of weeks. He is a left footer and that helps the balance of the squad, and he is a good defender with a lot of experience of playing at a higher level.
