Cobblers appeal over Osman red

Northampton boss Ian Sampson has confirmed the club have appealed against the sending-off of Abdul Osman in Saturday's draw with Port Vale. The 23-year-old midfielder was sent-off for a 68th-minute tackle on Vale's Doug Loft but the Cobblers boss insists his player did nothing wrong. Sampson said: "The appeal is in. "We saw it straight after the game on DVD and it shows the ball changed direction. He won the ball and it was just a good tackle. "The referee said he was sent off for a two-footed tackle but we disagree. He tackled with his right foot and the DVD evidence shows his left foot is a yard or so away from the player and his tackling foot. "I think we have got as good a case as we did for his previous sending off which was overturned so we will just have to wait and see what happens."
