Cardoza targets old head

Northampton chairman David Cardoza has admitted he may go for an experienced manager this time around as he looks for a replacement for Ian Sampson. Cardoza has tended to appoint younger coaches at Sixfields since he took charge but feels an older head may be the key to getting the Cobblers out of League Two. He said: "My philosophy in the past has been to give someone the opportunity to step up from number two as they would be hungry but I would expect experienced managers will be top of the list this time around. "I spent a lot of money in January because I was told that was what was needed to sort the team out and it doesn't seem to have. So that was a major factor. "I look at our team and we have some really talented individuals but we need to get the best out of them."
